Two Iranian films named finalists at Mercy Universe Int'l Short fest

Two Iranian films have won nominations at the 8th Mercy to the Universe International Short Film Festival (IMUFF) in Turkey.

Iranian short film ‘Graveyard’ was named as one of International Fiction Finalists at the IMUFF.

Directed by Ali Daraee, the film is about Reyhaneh, a young woman, who was behind her baby’s death.

As she looks for a way to bury the baby in the absence of her runaway husband, she faces hardships, a synopsis for the film reads.

Meanwhile, ‘The Sprayer’, directed by Farnoush Abedi, was named an International Animation Finalist in the Turkish event.

“One day, a soldier finds a seed buried deep down in the dust...,” a synopsis for the film reads.

The Mercy to Universe International Short Film Festival is “the first short film competition in Turkey and in the world, dedicated to our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who was sent as a Mercy to the Universe”.

The award ceremony will be held on Saturday.
